First week of Insanity is over. It was…rough. Much rougher than I expected (which is stupid, I know I’m in horrible shape). I would say I did 50%-60% of the workouts, excepting  Cardio Recovery because it reminded me of my favorite yoga classes, with a bunch of squats thrown in for fun. That I did nearly full out. I guess 60% isn’t horrible. I keep telling myself “just go at your own pace” but it’s depressing to have to stop every minute when the people in the video aren’t. On the positive side, by the end of the week I was able to get through the warmup without a problem. A little pathetic but hey, I’ll take what I can get.
Bring on week 2.

"‘I hate a Roman named Status Quo!’ he said to me. ‘Stuff your eyes with wonder,’ he said, ‘live as if you’d drop dead in ten seconds. See the world. It’s more fantastic than any dream made or paid for in factories. Ask no guarantees, ask for no security, there never was such an animal. And if there were, it would be related to the great sloth which hangs upside down in a tree all day every day, sleeping its life away. To hell with that,’ he said, ‘shake the tree and knock the great sloth down on his ass.’"

Fahrenheit 451 Ray Bradbury

The Laughing Heart

The Laughing Heart

your life is your life
don’t let it be clubbed into dank submission.
be on the watch.
there are ways out.
there is a light somewhere.
it may not be much light but
it beats the darkness.
be on the watch.
the gods will offer you chances.
know them.
take them.
you can’t beat death but
you can beat death in life, sometimes.
and the more often you learn to do it,
the more light there will be.
your life is your life.
know it while you have it.
you are marvelous
the gods wait to delight
in you.

— Charles Bukowski

Badass motherfucker of the century.

THIS KID GIVES ME HOPE.

I never thought I’d be giving huge props to someone named Nekochan, but if that’s the environment she’s in, even having a mild catgirl interest in Japanese culture is kind of a success.
You go, Neko.  ^5
